“Growing up I didn’t feel like I looked like any of the people around me or I acted like any of the people around me. I always knew in the back of my mind that there was another world outside of that and that I was gonna go there one day and people would accept me for who I was and who I am. So many people growing up told me that there was no place for me in television. I wasn’t pretty enough, no one could figure out what I was. There was always something. The great thing about Glee is that it gave me a chance. And it shows that you don’t have to look how everyone else looks.”
